America’s Education System
The education system in America as
we know it is plummeting. The structure itself may be strong, but the way it is
run is driving the future of America into the ground. As years go by school is
taken less and less seriously by the students. We procrastinate, homework isn’t
taken seriously, and students’ grades are dropping as the GPA requirement in
colleges is getting higher. It’s not just the system itself that is skewed, but
it’s the students, teachers, and the people running the schools that are also a
big part of the issue. The way schools are leading us into our futures is doing
little to nothing towards progress.
With the way the school system is
being treated, it shows that students care less and less about their work as
time goes by. We aren’t doing our part to strive towards a better future
either. Things like technology and social media are all getting more advanced
while we sit and toy around with such things when we should be putting towards
the quality of our work, to show that our teachers are doing a good job. As of
recently teachers don’t look as if they’re doing so well with getting their
students to learn the material in a given course, but the unfair part of it all
is that the teacher gets blamed for bad grades even if the students can retain
the knowledge, they simply just choose not to. Students aren’t doing their part
in school, and it’s only going to come back on them in the future.
Not only are the students not doing their
part, but neither is the government. The main issue with the way the government
controls this education system, is they treat all of us students the same. As
if we are all equal, and deserve the same education as everybody else. I would
have to agree it would be nice for every American citizen to get the same
education as every other, but the problem with that is that we are not all the
same people. We are all different in our own ways, and we all need to be taught
in different ways. People with A.D.D. and A.D.H.D get put on medicine that
supposedly can improve school-related skills. It shouldn’t work like that.
People like that deserve the extra help to strive to go that extra mile. We can’t
be expected to sit in a classroom for 45 minutes and have everybody retain the
information they were just taught. It’s not that easy. Some need more help than
others, and that’s why the government needs to realize we are not the same as
one another.
The biggest, and main problem with
our education system, is that society tells us that if we graduate high school,
go to college, get a four year degree, and get a job within that field, that
it’s supposed to make us good citizens. The real issue with this is that kids
are getting out of high school having absolutely no idea what they want to do,
they go to college to get a degree for something they don’t even want in the
future, and not to mention the thousands of dollars in debt the individual will
be in. As we are the future of America, I can safely say the education system
is running the future of America into its own ground.
Overall, there needs to be major
improvements made to the way our education system works today. We need to make
sure that kids are leaving high school and going into college knowing exactly
what they want to do, so the future of America can look bright. The way schools
are leading us into our futures is doing little to nothing towards progress.
